Paloma Cocktail, a raging trend

PATRÓN tequila recently served a special signature Paloma cocktail at 15 of Singapore’s top cocktail bars and it was a raging hit. Singapore’s cocktail lovers quenched their thirsts by visiting participating bars around the island for a Paloma cocktail, as part of their Cocktail Masters by Academia Patrón competition.

Fifteen of the island’s top cocktail bars served a special ‘signature’ Paloma cocktail – traditionally Mexico’s favourite drink which is surging in popularity around the world – created by a bartender within their team who is competing for the ‘Cocktail Masters’ title. Guests at these bars ordered the signature Paloma, and also a classic Paloma, while competitors were awarded points according to the number of drinks sold. Six bartenders join six winners from the ‘Margarita’ cocktail rounds held earlier this year to compete at the Grand Final at COMO on July 21, where a panel of judges will award them marks for their stage performance and signature cocktail serves.

One overall winner will embark on the trip of a lifetime to Hacienda PATRÓN in Jalisco, Mexico. There they will have the opportunity to see the entire process that goes into producing PATRÓN tequila – from harvesting and roasting the Weber Blue Agave pinas before they are crushed in a tahona mill, to distillation and barrel ageing the tequila before it is hand bottled.

The bars that participated included ATLAS; Baia; Bae’s Cocktail Club; Bar Spectre; Burnt Ends Bar; Caffe Fernet; Cygnet Bar at QT Singapore; Grand Hyatt Singapore; High House; Lobby Bar at the Singapore EDITION; Madame Fan, JW Marriott; Plume, Pan Pacific Singapore; and The Backdrop.
